Software: The following software applications are available for student use in the Student Computing Center labs: Microsoft Office Professional (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint ), Corel Suite (WordPerfect, Quattro Pro, Corel Presentations) and SPSS.

Hardware: Standardized Personal Computers ( IBM PC Compatible and Macintosh) and Laser Printers for education-related printing applications are available for student use in the Student Computing Centers.

Internet Access: Unlimited access for PVAMU educational applications is provided.

Email: Each PVAMU student is assigned an email account upon completion of his or her enroll me nt/admittance to the University. Email accounts are created twice monthly and may be accessed using any computer with Internet access via the PVAMU Main Web Page : www.pvamu.edu under Quick Links. You may also log-on to: http://pvmail.pvamu.edu to access Student Email.

Student email accounts are structured as follows and are activated AFTER the first log on :

Student Name : Crystal Waters

Username : cwaters (If there is more than one cwaters --For example, Charles Waters--the next occurrence will be incre me nted by (1) as in cwaters1, cwaters2, etc.) You may also see your email address via Panthertracks!

Password: Date of birth (mmddyy) - Two digits for month followed by two digits for day and last two digits of year.

E-mail Address: cwaters@pvamu.edu

You may change your password from a computer in one of our Student Computing Centers.

To view your quota, change your settings and/or activate other options, please click on the link on the Log In page.

Panthertracks:

This is a powerful online tool that allows you to view your Email address, Grades, Institutional Transcript, Transfer Transcript, Account Summary, Hold, and so me Financial Aid Information. You may also update your address and Next of Kin.

Using the current version of Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator, go to www.pvamu.edu and select online services. Go to Online Services, then Panthertracks for Students. Near the bottom of the screen, you will see the picture of a key. Click on the key with your left mouse button. This will present you with the Student Login page. The Student Login page asks for your :

Student ID: Normally, your Social Security Number

PIN: Initially, your date of birth (mmddyy) i.e. 2 digit month, 2 digit day, and last 2 digits of the year) or the value that you have changed it to (6 digits). Still having problems? Contact the Registrar 's Office, extension 4725 in room 110 Evans Hall. They can reset your PIN to its original value.

Dial-Up:

A dial-up account is created for all enrolled students. Students should use their e-mail logins information to access PVAMU's dial-up system . The current access numbers are 713-394-7436 and 713-387-3067, which accommodate up to 92 concurrent users. For instructions and/or info, please go to http://www.pvamu.edu/itdept/network.htm

OTHER SERVICES/PROGRAMS

The IT Depart me nt also imple me nted and provides support to the University Laptop and Distance Learning programs. These programs provide Web-based courses and wireless access in the Library and other University buildings for student, faculty, and staff.
